QP’s team is growing, we are seeking to recruit a proactive JUNIOR – INTERIOR DESIGN DRAUGHTSPERSON to join our team in MALTA.

QP is looking for a dynamic, creative architecture student (or graduate) who is both passionate about the built environment industry and high-end residential properties. The chosen candidate will get a chance to liaise and work directly with the company’s designers, project managers and contractors, acquire hands-on experience and be involved with many different aspects of a project from conception to completion.

Responsibilities:

Working on a full-time basis, the chosen candidate will primarily be responsible for:

  • Assisting in concept design and feasibility, interior design and decoration, schematics, design development and design coordination, procurement, supervision of works and certification;
  • Producing detailed documents, plans and technical drawings such as, but not limited to, floor plans, elevations, and joinery detailing, FF&E specifications and procurement documents;
  • Ensuring project Quality Assurance confirmed with feedback from clients throughout the lifecycle of projects, while implementing the necessary rectifications when needed to ensure quality standards are achieved;
  • Assisting with product procurement for the various design projects;
  • Developing presentations and/or presentation material and delivering to clients and stakeholders as necessary;
  • Assisting with on-site installation and supervision of interior spaces at different stages;
  • Supporting the development of BIM in the Interior Design department and the Company;

Requirements

  • Draughtsmanship qualification to advanced diploma level and/or a recognized qualification in this field from an accredited and reputable school;
  • Seeking to develop draughting skills in interior design. Having worked on a variety of interiors projects including hospitality, residential and/or commercial projects, among others would be considered an asset.
  • Prepared to learn and keep abreast with all applicable standards, legislations and practices applicable to the construction industry in Malta;
  • An immense passion for design with an understanding of and willing to develop skills in integrated interior architecture;
  • The ability to use multiple media (hand sketching through to advanced digital media) to develop, test and communicate design ideas;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, InDesign, Photoshop and Microsoft Office among other associated software. Experience in REVIT would be considered an asset. 3D skills and experience in presentation software would also be preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to work closely with others in a multidisciplinary environment to deliver projects in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Attention to detail, influencing skills, assertiveness and the ability to understand and express technical concepts accurately with confidence and clarity;
  • Analytical skills and a measured approach to decision-making, being able to take decisions as and when needed in the interest of efficiency;
  • A motivated team player demonstrating an eager and positive work ethic;
  • A valid driving licence required to carry out site inspections;

  • Carrying out interior design and design management services including but not limited to, concept design and feasibility, interior design and decoration, schematics, design development and design coordination, procurement, supervision of works and certification;
  • Meeting with prospective clients and seeking to appeal to their objectives and vision;
  • Supervising contractors’ and sub-contractors’ works on site to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency while simultaneously ensuring that works are carried out in accordance with all relevant specifications, drawings and documentation
  • Supporting the interior design team to ensure that all interior design aspects of the project are properly managed and controlled;
  • Ensuring project Quality Assurance throughout the lifecycle of projects, while implementing the necessary rectifications when needed to ensure quality standards are achieved;
  • Attending project and technical meetings;
  • Keeping abreast of latest trends and technologies in the Industry;
  • Supporting the development of BIM in the Interior department and the Company;

Requirements

QP employee, Clarabel Versace has been appointed as a member of the newly formed Council for the Malta Chamber of Construction Management

The Malta Chamber of Construction Management (MCCM) represents construction professionals in the built environment at the various levels operating in Malta. Its primary objective is to promote high standards in quality, ethics, and integrity within the industry. MCCM is also at the forefront of innovation of the local built environment working to have a positive impact on general policies and regulations that govern the industry.

An integral part of the Chamber’s mission statement is ‘to be at the forefront of public education, encouraging research and sharing the outcome from this research’. It is with great pleasure for QP to congratulate Clarabel for her new role within the Malta Chamber for Construction Managers. She has been entrusted with the Education and Development sector of the Chamber. Within this role, together with the team, she will be focusing on the educational aspect of the construction managers roles within the industry. She will be also representing the upcoming generations and women with the industry, to increase their involvement.

Part of her work will include identifying existing local and foreign courses eligible for such roles whilst holding discussions and participating in the collaborative agreements with institutions to make courses available to address the needs of the management sector at all levels. She has also been entrusted with guiding individuals who are interested in the sector on how to become a Construction Project Manager, Construction Site Manager and other managerial roles within the industry. In addition to this, she will provide guidance to the MCCM members who are interested in improving their academic levels, including the promotion of continuous development programs, such that they can develop and progress further in the industry.

Clarabel graduated 5 years ago with a Bachelors in Construction Engineering, and since then she has been an integral part of QP’s Architecture team.
