Responsibilities:

Working on a full-time basis, the chosen candidate will primarily be responsible for property valuations however, s/he will also be expected to assist the architectural team as needed, in the role of the architect. Duties shall therefore include:

  • Carrying out the duties of a junior Architect including but not limited to concept design and feasibility, architectural design, construction drawings and specifications, master planning, design coordination, architectural and landscaping detailing works, supervision of works and certification, property valuations, estimating costs related to the project, choosing materials, creating time schedules as well as other administrative matters relating to architecture;
  • Preparing and developing block plans, layout plans, elevations and cross-sections in architectural, planning and construction drawings;
  • Preparation of valuation reports, including market research, area take-off, assessment of planning data and any necessary site inspections;
  • Carrying out the duties of estimating costs relating to the properties being valued.
  • Undertaking works related to the Planning Authority (PA), liaising with the PA and other Authorities and organizations for planning consent and any other necessary associated permits and clearances, prepare and developing drawings and documents required for applications at the appropriate stages of each project;
  • Defining design and space planning problems, conceptualizing possible solutions and securing approvals of proposals;
  • Assisting with the preparation of reports relating to planning procedures, project descriptions, and also regarding architectural components;
  • Preparing and developing area schedules for architectural projects and other related projects;
  • Preparing and developing apertures schedules or schedules relating to other architectural components, including developing product data sheets;
  • Assisting with research and compiling project related data as required, for various works undertaken by the Architecture Department;
  • Developing presentations and/or presentation material, including 3D-modelling and visual imagery /renders for architectural projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation and presentation of feasibility reports and design concept proposals to clients;
  • Assisting with the development and updating of Architectural concepts and project briefs combining aesthetics with practical considerations, and maintaining the integrity of designs through robust change control and project processing techniques from conception to completion, ensuring a seamless document flow in the process;
  • Inspecting and delivering supervision services on project sites for architectural related projects to ensure compliance with contract documents for all architectural components, professional and company standards, health and safety, and codes of practice;
  • Assisting in ensuring project Quality Assurance for architectural components confirmed with feedback from clients;;
  • Abiding by policies and procedures in relation to architectural structures and systems and planning and construction/safety codes and regulations;
  • Producing and assisting the team with the production of architectural and technical drawings relating to architectural components;
  • Preparing regular progress reports and any required meeting minutes;
  • Supporting the development of BIM in the Architecture department and the Company and participating in any training;

Requirements

  • A recognized architectural degree. A master’s degree in a relevant subject would be considered an asset;
  • Hold a Perit warrant with a minimum of two years’ experience;
  • A proven track record working in property valuations;
  • Possess a solid understanding in local Planning Authority policies;
  • Highly cognizant and abreast with all applicable standards, legislations and practices applicable to the construction industry in Malta;
  • A valid driving licence required to carry out property inspections and surveys;
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCad, and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in BIM and/or other related design systems would be considered an asset;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to work closely with others in a multidisciplinary environment;
  • Attention to detail, influencing skills, assertiveness and the ability to understand and express technical concepts accurately with confidence and clarity;
  • Proficient analytical skills and a measured approach to decision-making, being able to take decisions as and when needed in the interest of efficiency;

Responsibilities

Working on a full-time basis, the chosen candidate will primarily be responsible for:

  • Carrying out the duties of a quantity surveyor including but not limited to the project budgets, bills of quantities, project estimates, tender evaluations, development of cost plans, assisting in the drafting of contracts (mainly FIDIC), contract management, assessment of variations, close out of project finances and such other responsibilities attached to a role of this kind, with particular relevance to building services;
  • Ensuring project Quality Assurance confirmed with feedback from clients throughout the lifecycle of projects, while implementing the necessary rectifications when needed to ensure quality standards are achieved;
  • Abiding by policies and procedures in relation to quantity surveying structures and systems and construction codes, including technical standards, procedures and parameters, procedures for communication and coordination between the members of the project team, as well as the distribution of information and documentation in relation to quantity surveying and contractual matters;
  • Estimating quantities and costs of materials for the various projects involved in;
  • Procurement and vetting of contractor quotations and packages, assisting the Senior Partner with advising clients on preferred procurement routes, costs and cash flow;
  • Carrying out monthly verification of application for payments and issuing accurate corresponding payment certifications /valuations (interim payment certificates);
  • Carrying out cost forecasting, reviewing, monitoring and reporting;
  • Measuring, valuing and submitting variations when and as needed;
  • Assisting the Senior Partner with advising project staff / clients on cost, commercial and contractual matters, with specific relevance to building services;
  • Preparing, submitting and negotiating project final accounts;
  • Managing and approving subcontractor monthly valuations and final accounts;
  • Assisting the Senior Partner with evaluating proposed construction methodology and determining cost effective structural design solutions, with particular relevance to building services;
  • Monitoring and controlling costs during the pre-contract stages;
  • Preparing tender and contractual documentation, leading to tender selection and appraisal;
  • Preparing recommendations for Clients’ approval.
  • Liaising with the professional team and assisting with the preparation of tender reports;
  • Preparing documentation to confirm adjustments to tender sums;
  • Assisting the Senior Partner with developing and maintaining cost plans and the cash flow forecasts;
  • Inspecting project sites at various stages of the project to ensure compliance with contract documents, professional and company standards, health and safety, and codes of practice;

Requirements:

  • You have a degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Engineering with quantity surveying specialisation and/or a recognized professional qualification in this field with several years’ experience;
  • You would preferably be a member of the RICS or have other satisfactory/equivalent membership;
  • A proven track record working as a quantity surveyor in various projects, including residential, commercial, infrastructural, hospitality etc.
  • Highly cognizant and abreast with all applicable standards, legislations and practices applicable to the construction industry in Malta;
  • A valid driving licence required to carry out site visits, valuations, bills of quantities and surveys;
  • Proficiency in the use of AutoCad, and Microsoft Office. Proficiency in BIM and/or other related design systems would be considered an asset;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to work closely with others in a multidisciplinary environment;
