Responsibilities

Working on a full-time basis and reporting to the Senior Partner, the chosen candidate will be

Responsible for the following duties:

Financial reporting and control

  • Own month-end close and ensure timely, accurate management accounts.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity.
  • Manage statutory compliance, audits, tax coordination, and external advisors.
  • Maintain a reliable cash position view and support cashflow forecasting.

Management reporting and insights

  • Build and improve dashboards and reporting packs for leadership (P and L, balance sheet, cash, KPIs).
  • Provide variance analysis and actionable insights by business line, office, and project.
  • Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and scenario planning.

Project finance and commercial oversight

  • Strengthen project financial performance: margins, WIP, revenue recognition, accruals, cost allocation.
  • Partner with Project Directors and Senior Partners to improve project forecasting, billing discipline, and profitability.
  • Monitor client invoicing, revenue collection, and support resolution of commercial issues.

Process and systems improvement

  • Improve finance processes, automation, and data discipline (ERP/accounting, project tools, CRM integration where relevant).
  • Create and maintain finance SOPs and a clear monthly rhythm with stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement across procurement, expenses, approvals, and reporting.

Team and stakeholder collaboration

  • Coordinate finance administration tasks and support junior finance staff.
  • Work closely with HR and leadership on payroll and headcount reporting.
  • Act as a trusted finance partner to the leadership team.

Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Qualified accountant or part-qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
  • 5+ years in financial control, management accounting, or audit, ideally with exposure to professional services, consultancy, engineering, or project-based environments.
  • Strong understanding of project accounting concepts (WIP, revenue recognition, project margins).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting systems and reporting tools.
  • Clear communicator, confident working with senior stakeholders.
  • Structured, proactive, and able to improve order in a fast-paced environment.
