Main purpose
- To determine the terrestrial or three-dimensional landscaping positions of points including, the distances and angles between them for the purpose of providing a holistic approach as part of our services to clients, and to conduct all the necessary surveying, research, assessments, mapping and documentation in line with the profession’s and company’s standards.
Responsibilities
Working on a full-time basis, the chosen candidate will primarily be responsible for:
- Serving as the Health & Safety Supervisor across projects of varying complexity, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and best practices.
- Conducting comprehensive design and construction safety reviews, inspections, and risk assessments on construction sites and operational facilities.
- Ensuring full compliance with local and international Health & Safety legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
- Assisting the Senior Partner in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and strategies to uphold the company’s safety culture.
- Regularly reviewing and updating company Health & Safety policies and statements to align with evolving regulations and industry standards.
- Conducting thorough site inspections and preparing detailed observation reports, ensuring contractors implement corrective actions as required.
- Investigating workplace incidents, near-misses, and root causes, and overseeing the implementation of effective preventive and corrective measures.
- Supporting with emergency response efforts, managing incidents and accidents efficiently, and ensuring prompt reporting and resolution.
- Acting as the primary liaison during OHSA or equivalent regulatory inspections, providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance.
- Delivering safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and awareness briefings to staff, promoting a proactive safety culture.
- Reviewing and assessing Construction Method Statements, ensuring contractor adherence to safety protocols.
- Overseeing contractor safety performance, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual safety requirements.
- Serving as the company’s designated Health & Safety Representative, advocating for workplace safety, employee well-being, and best practices.
Requirements
- A recognized qualification in Health and Safety, with a specialization in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Applicants must hold, at a minimum, a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety awarded by the University of Malta or MCAST, or an equivalent qualification certified by MQRIC at Level 5 or higher in the field.
- Registered on the Occupational Health and Safety Authority’s (OHSA) Competent Persons Register.
- A proven track record with several years’ experience in occupational health and safety within the AEC industry, including construction-related environments.
- Highly cognizant and abreast with all applicable standards and ISO standards, legislations and practices applicable to Health and safety, with relevance also to the Construction industry in Malta and particularly Occupational Health and Safety Authority Act XXVII of 2000.
- A valid driving license is required to carry out on—site inspections.
- Excellent command of written and verbal English communication skills, with strong active listening abilities to effectively gather and interpret critical information from relevant stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous record-keeping capabilities to ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of all safety-related activities in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Ability to work under pressure and to work closely with others in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Attention to detail, influencing skills, assertiveness and the ability to understand and express technical concepts accurately with confidence and clarity.
- Proficient analytical skills and a measured approach to decision-making, being able to take decisions as and when needed in the interest of health and safety and efficiency.
