Responsibilities

Working on a full-time basis and reporting to the Senior Partner, the chosen candidate will be

Responsible for the following duties:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) works, based on project designs and specifications.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Assist in preparing tender documents, evaluating supplier bids, and negotiating contracts for MEP services and materials.
  • Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Quantities for MEP components, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage and administer contracts, track variations, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations for MEP systems.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring costs stay within approved limits. Provide cost reports and forecast future financial outcomes.
  • Conduct interim valuations and process contractor payment applications for MEP works. Certify the accuracy of these applications.
  • Identify potential cost risks and suggest ways to manage and mitigate them. Seek opportunities to optimize value in the project lifecycle.
  • Manage cost implications of project changes, ensure proper documentation, and advise the project team on financial impacts.
  • Prepare and agree final accounts for MEP services, reconciling all costs at the end of the project.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure the smooth delivery of MEP services.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to legal regulations, quality standards, and health and safety protocols.
    • Ensuring project Quality Assurance confirmed with feedback from clients throughout the lifecycle of projects, while implementing the necessary rectifications when needed to ensure quality standards are achieved;
    • Preparing recommendations for Clients’ approval

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional membership with RICS, CIOB, or similar organizations is an advantage.
  • At least five (5) years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on MEP projects.
  • Strong knowledge of MEP systems and building services.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and construction industry standards.
  • Proficient in cost estimation software (e.g., AutoCad, Cost-X, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A valid driving licence required to carry out site visits, valuations, bills of quantities and surveys;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Attention to detail, influencing skills, assertiveness and the ability to understand and express technical concepts accurately with confidence and clarity;
  • Experience working on large-scale hospitality, commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
  • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
