The former Grand Hotel du Boulevard, a landmark property in the heart of Bucharest, shall be renovated by QP into a luxury hotel managed by Corinthia Hotels Ltd. This iconic building, designed by the same architect as the Bucharest University, Alexandru Orascu, is one of the oldest hotels in Bucharest. It is located across the Military Circle and was built on the land of grand noble Vintila Corbeanu, later acquired by Jacques Herdan. With construction works initiating in 1867, the hotel officially opened its doors in 1873 as Hotel Herdan, changing its name to Grand Hotel du Boulevard in 1877. The hotel is ornate with opulent decorations such as marble columns, glass ceilings, Venetian mirrors, rich mural decor and lavish Bohemian crystal chandeliers. The extensive refurbishment will transform the property, a Class A Monument of Culture (classified by the Romanian Ministry of Culture), into a luxury hotel offering 50 suites, a number of dining options, a ballroom and boutique meeting spaces, and leisure amenities that will be finished to the signature standards of timeless luxury and style of the Corinthia spirit.
