Malta Air Traffic Services is the sole air navigation service provider on the island and is the developer on this project. The project will mark the first every civilian Air Traffic Control Centre and will be hosting important functions for the country, as air traffic management for the Maltese Airspace, and projects towards the progress of the Single European Sky, commercial air traffic to / from Malta, and Search and Rescue assistance amongst others. The overall objective of the project is to deliver a new state of the art Air Traffic Control Centre, which can accommodate the future air navigation services. New technologies and practices are demanding Air Traffic Management from a comprehensive Air Traffic Service rather than the conventional Air Traffic Control.
